This Privacy Policy describes how the Billable Chrome Extension ("we", "our", or "the Extension") handles information when you use our time tracking and invoicing extension. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

1. Information We Store

1.1 Client Information

The Extension stores information about your business clients that you enter, including:

• Client names
• Client email addresses (optional)
• Client phone numbers (optional)
• Client addresses (optional)
• Billing rates
• Project timelines and projected hours

1.2 Time Tracking Data

The Extension stores:

• Time entries with dates, hours worked, and descriptions
• Active timer states
• Invoice history and payment status

All of this data is stored locally on your device.

1.3 Payment Status (Extension Pay)

If you choose to make an optional donation via the "Buy Me A Coffee" feature, the Extension stores your payment status (paid/unpaid) locally. This is the only payment-related information we store. Actual payment processing is handled by Extension Pay (extensionpay.com) and their payment processor Stripe.

2. How We Use Your Information

The Extension uses stored information solely to:

• Provide time tracking functionality
• Generate invoices based on tracked hours
• Display reports and analytics
• Maintain timer states across browser sessions
• Check payment status for optional donations (Extension Pay only)

We do not:

• Transmit your data to external servers
• Share your data with third parties (except Extension Pay for payment processing)
• Use your data for advertising or marketing
• Analyze or mine your data

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Local Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. This means:

• Your data never leaves your computer
• Data is not synced to the cloud
• Data is device-specific (not shared across devices)
• Maximum storage capacity: approximately 10MB (Chrome's limit)

3.2 Data Security

Your data is protected by Chrome's built-in security mechanisms. The Extension uses Chrome's secure storage API, which encrypts data at rest. However, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and browser.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Extension Pay

The Extension integrates with Extension Pay (extensionpay.com) to provide optional donation functionality. When you use the "Buy Me A Coffee" feature:

• Payment processing is handled by Extension Pay and Stripe
• Extension Pay's privacy policy applies to payment transactions
• We only receive and store payment status (paid/unpaid) locally
• We do not receive or store credit card numbers or other payment details

5. Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

• Export: You can export all your data as JSON or CSV at any time
• Delete: You can delete individual clients, time entries, or invoices
• Remove All Data: Uninstalling the Extension removes all stored data
• Modify: You can edit or update any information you've entered

The Extension does not require an account, so you can use it completely anonymously if desired.

6. Data Transmission

The Extension makes minimal network requests:

• Extension Pay API:Only when you click "Buy Me A Coffee" to check payment status or make a donation. These requests only include the Extension ID and an API key (not your personal information).
• No other network requests:The Extension does not send your client data, time entries, or invoices to any external servers.

7. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us to have it removed.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users through the Extension or other means.

9. Future Plans

We are committed to maintaining your privacy. We have no plans to:

• Add cloud sync or external servers
• Collect additional user data
• Share data with third parties (beyond Extension Pay for payment processing)
• Use data for advertising or marketing purposes

If our data practices change in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and notify users.

10. Compliance

This Extension is designed to comply with:

• California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) principles
